Cody Ware NASCAR Suspension: NASCAR driver Cody Ware’s tumultuous period has taken a turn as NASCAR recently lifted his indefinite suspension. This decision followed the dropping of charges previously brought against him by the Iredell County district attorney’s office. Ware had faced allegations of felony assault by strangulation and misdemeanor assault on a female, leading to his suspension in April this year.
Expressing relief and the desire to move past this challenging chapter, Ware stated, “I’ve maintained my innocence from the very beginning, even as there was a rush to judgment by others. I’m glad this entire matter is behind me because it’s been an incredibly difficult eight months. With all of the allegations being dismissed, I’m thankful to have my life back.”
The 28-year-old driver has a history in various racing realms, having made 97 Cup Series starts since 2017, mostly under his father’s outfit, Rick Ware Racing. His sole top-ten finish came at Daytona, a remarkable sixth-place position last August.
Ware’s racing ventures aren’t limited to NASCAR, as he has showcased his skills in other series, including the Asian Le Mans Series with a Ligier JS P2 LMP2 car and brief appearances in IMSA Sportscar Championship and IndyCar in 2021 under collaborations with Eurasia and Dale Coyne Racing respectively.
During Ware’s suspension, an array of drivers stepped into the #51 Ford Mustang, including Matt Crafton, Ryan Newman, Zane Smith, J.J. Yeley, Todd Gilliland, Andy Lally, and Cole Custer. Notably, Yeley snagged the best finish of 11th at Talladega while filling in for Ware.
Despite signing Justin Haley earlier this year, Rick Ware Racing has yet to unveil its driver lineup for the second full-time entry in the upcoming 2024 season.
