The following season saw SVG pilot the #97 chevrolet/”>Chevrolet in the Xfinity Series for Kaulig Racing, where he achieved three wins and concluded the year ranked 12th overall. However, the coveted Rookie of the Year honors went to Jesse Love, a driver for Richard Childress Racing, highlighting the competitive nature of the series.
In a strategic move, Trackhouse Racing, the team representing the 35-year-old driver, expanded to a three-car operation this season, welcoming SVG alongside teammates Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain. As a rookie in the Cup Series, Shane van Gisbergen faces tough competition, particularly from fellow rookie driver Riley Herbst of 23XI Racing, who has emerged as his primary contender for the Rookie of the Year title.

While he is well-known for his prowess on road courses, his transition to oval racing, particularly on a drafting track like Talladega, has posed unique challenges.
In his Talladega debut, van Gisbergen faced a steep learning curve, as he was pushed four-wide by more seasoned drivers reluctant to allow him into the draft. Yet, with experience gained, he returned to Talladega a more confident driver, ultimately being pushed to the lead in the next race.
Currently, Shane van Gisbergen is ranked 34th in the Cup Series standings, just behind Riley Herbst, who holds the 33rd position.
