Team Penske recently commented on the disqualification of Joey Logano and the No. 22 team during Talladega’s race on Sunday. Their stand is clear; they would not be appealing NASCAR’s decision. This, despite the fact that the loose bolt found on the spoiler, leading to the penalty, was unintentional.
The post-race inspection saw the No. 22 Team Penske ford/”>Ford Mustang get disqualified. Team Penske explained that one among the 18 bolts on the spoiler’s surface that connected to the base had been found loose, resulting in the NASCAR penalty. They asserted that this was not intentional, occurring during the race event, and as a result, accepted the disqualification.
Joey Logano and Ryan Preece, both disqualified after Talladega’s post-race inspections, saw dramatic effects on their standings. While Preece finished second and Logano landed the fifth position initially, their disqualifications dropped them to the field’s bottom, specifically at 38th for Preece and 39th for Logano.
Logano’s No. 22 Ford was found in violation of several sections under NASCAR rules, and these disqualifications have undeniably shaken up the NASCAR leaderboard.
Joey Logano’s Spirited Response
Joey Logano’s performance in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season has been disappointing thus far. Despite being a three-time Cup Series champion, Logano hasn’t bagged a victory and accomplished just a single top-10 finish. However, this isn’t unchartered territory for him as he’s experienced similarly slow starts before. The previous year too, Logano didn’t secure a win until June, subsequently going on to win the Cup Series title.
In a conversation with the FOX Sports broadcasting crew, Logano shared his views before the Bowman Gray race in February. He confidently stated that the objective never alters – the goal is always to win the championship. He also stressed on the significance of not succumbing to complacency, continually striving for improvement, and understanding that past success doesn’t guarantee future victories.
Logano emphasized that while past victories are enjoyable to acknowledge, it is crucial to remember that success needs to be achieved over and over again. The scoreboards, according to Logano, reset back to zero, meaning that past success holds no sway over future performance. Therefore, the inadvertent bolt incident at Talladega will hardly deter Logano from bouncing back.
