Corey Heim dominates NASCAR Truck Series practice at Nashville, leads field ahead of Rackley Roofing 200

Corey Heim dominates NASCAR Truck Series practice at Nashville, clocking the fastest time during a 45-minute session at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday. As Heim prepares for a rare double-duty weekend, he will compete in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and his second NASCAR Cup Series opportunity of the 2025 season. The Marietta, Georgia native, already a four-time race winner this year, looks to add another strong finish in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Strong Practice Run Marks Continued Success

Heim, 22, demonstrated his authority by posting a lap of 30.059 seconds at 159.287 mph, topping the speed charts nearly two tenths of a second ahead of his closest competitor, reigning champion Ty Majeski. The young driver also led the pack in both 5-lap and 10-lap averages, affirming his status as a dominant force in the series.

“It’s all news to me as far as the averages and stuff,”

said Heim.

“Really good to come here and have speed, I feel like last year we certainly had some stuff to look back and improve on, still had a good showing, felt like we probably deserved to finish top-three, top-five last year, but with this group you wanna win every race.”

Heim completed 44 laps during the extended session, ranking near the top in overall laps run among the 32 drivers entered for Friday night’s 200-mile race, the Rackley Roofing 200.

Key Competitors and Top Performances in Practice

Ty Majeski ended the session in second place, hoping to turn around a recent challenging period by placing his No. 98 Curb Records Ford F-150 near the front. Rajah Caruth from Spire Motorsports followed in third, while part-timer Luke Fenhaus secured fourth position for ThorSport Racing. The Front Row Motorsports teammates, Chandler Smith and Layne Riggs, claimed the fifth and sixth spots respectively. The rest of the top ten featured Jake Garcia, Andres Perez de Lara, Gio Ruggiero, and Daniel Hemric. Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch participated as well, placing 11th after 42 laps in the No. 07 for Spire Motorsports.

Few Issues During a Smooth Session

The practice session unfolded without notable on-track incidents. All drivers completed at least six laps, showcasing a competitive field ahead of the race. Stewart Friesen, who finished 14th in the session, faced a setback when his truck experienced engine issues late in practice.

“I’ve broken enough motors in my day to know when one comes apart pretty good,”

Friesen said to Josh Sims.

“Lost a cylinder there, not sure what the cause of it was, but we’re just prepping to put our backup [engine] in, right now, and go from there.”

With Friday’s qualifying canceled due to rain, Friesen was set to start 13th; however, the necessary engine change will likely send him to the back of the field when the green flag drops.

Heim to Lead the Field at the Rackley Roofing 200

Corey Heim will guide the 32-truck field to the green flag in Friday night’s Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway, scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM ET. The race will be broadcast on FS1, NASCAR Radio Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90), and features top contenders like Ty Majeski, Rajah Caruth, and Kyle Busch. With Heim’s current momentum and dominance in practice, all eyes will be on the Marietta native as he seeks to extend his winning streak in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and make a strong impression ahead of his Cup Series efforts.
