Carson Kvapil will make his highly anticipated return to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as he gets behind the wheel of the No. 97 CR7 Motorsports truck at Richmond Raceway this weekend, marking his Carson Kvapil CR7 Richmond debut. CR7 Motorsports revealed on August 11 that this appearance will be Kvapil’s first Truck Series start since his 2023 debut at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he competed for Spire Motorsports.
Kvapil Joins CR7 Motorsports for Richmond Challenge
Kvapil is eager to take on Richmond Raceway, a track he will be tackling for the first time, and he expressed enthusiasm about the chance to drive for CR7 Motorsports.
“I’m really excited to join CR7 Motorsports and drive the [No.] 97 Truck at Richmond in front of the families and friends of Codie (Rohrbaugh) and Grant County Mulch,”
—Carson Kvapil, Driver
While Kvapil admits he faces a learning curve at an unfamiliar circuit, he remains optimistic about the opportunity and the team around him.
“It will be a bit of a learning curve as I have never been to Richmond, but I look forward to the experience and opportunity. I can’t wait to get on track with the [No.] 97 group and see what we can do.”

The CR7 Motorsports leadership is equally enthusiastic about bringing Kvapil onboard for this Richmond event.
“We are thrilled to have Carson in the [No.] 97 truck,”
—Codie Rohrbaugh, CR7 Owner
Rohrbaugh emphasized the young driver’s talent and highlighted the return of a familiar name to the pit box for this special race.
“He’s a talented young driver with a lot of upside. It is special to have the [No.] 97 truck back on track with Grant County Mulch. We have a great team put together and I look forward to Michael Shelton coming out of retirement to be back on top of the pit box.”
—Codie Rohrbaugh, CR7 Owner
This Richmond race will be the first outing for the No. 97 truck with CR7 Motorsports since its last run with Rohrbaugh at the Daytona International Speedway season opener last year. For Kvapil, this marks his return to the Truck Series after a standout run in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports, where he currently sits sixth in points after 23 races, securing five top-five finishes and 10 top-10 results this year.
Anticipation Builds for Richmond Return
Kvapil’s entry at Richmond adds excitement to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as fans and teams alike anticipate how the rising star will adapt to a new track environment. With CR7 Motorsports’ support and the return of experienced crew chief Michael Shelton, all eyes are on how Kvapil will perform in his latest challenge.
