Kaulig Racing Kansas Recap: Dillon Soars to 13th in Thriller

In this week’s Kaulig Racing Kansas Recap, Ty Dillon showcased remarkable resilience and skill at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, piloting the No. 10 DraftKings Camaro ZL1 from a 33rd starting spot to an impressive 13th-place finish. Facing a competitive field, Dillon and his crew adjusted strategy and car handling throughout the race, underscoring the team’s determination to climb through the ranks during the Hollywood Casino 400.

Adapting and Advancing Through the Field

Dillon began the race deep in the field but steadily improved, finishing 31st in Stage 1 and 26th in Stage 2. The Kaulig Racing team continuously tweaked the Chevrolet’s setup to suit changing track conditions. Their persistence paid off in the latter stages, with Dillon progressively moving into the top 20 and then further up the standings as the race intensified.

A series of incidents and multiple restarts in the final stage created opportunities, and Dillon capitalized by steering clear of wrecks and maximizing restart advantages. The race ended in overtime, providing Dillon the chance to secure a hard-earned 13th-place result, his best finish in several weeks.

“I’m proud of the performance of our team. We’ve been in a hole for a couple weeks, and we chopped away at it all day. It’s probably the first clean race we’ve had in three or four weeks without any of us making mistakes. I think that just proves how we can run, and hopefully that carries the momentum through the end of the year. Proud of our effort. Our car was solid and we executed in all phases. So, now we’ll move on to the ROVAL.”

Challenges for AJ Allmendinger and the No. 16 Team

AJ Allmendinger started the race from the 20th position behind the wheel of the No. 16 Action Industries Camaro ZL1. Despite moving up to 12th by the end of Stage 2 and battling for a top-15 position, Allmendinger struggled with rear grip on long runs. A long green-flag pit stop during the final stage set him back to 22nd. Misfortune struck with 51 laps remaining, as he was caught in the tail end of a wreck, causing significant damage and forcing the team to retire early, officially finishing 36th.

What Lies Ahead for Kaulig Racing

This Kaulig Racing Kansas Recap highlights Dillon’s strong finish as a positive momentum shift for the team, providing a boost after several challenging weeks. The effort and execution by Dillon and his crew could set the tone for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Allmendinger and the No. 16 crew will look to regroup and prepare for upcoming challenges as the series heads to the ROVAL. Both drivers and teams remain optimistic, aiming to build on their experiences from Kansas for future events.
