Connor Zilisch NASCAR Truck Series driver is set as the betting favorite for the EcoSave 250, which opens the Round of 8 at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course this Friday. Spire Motorsports, based in Mooresville, North Carolina, will field three teams for the event, marking a significant moment as drivers face this challenging 17-turn, 2.28-mile circuit for the first time.
Spire Motorsports Prepares Three-Truck Lineup for Charlotte Road Course
Spire Motorsports has assembled a formidable trio for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series EcoSave 250. Xfinity Series standout Connor Zilisch will drive the No. 7 Chevrolet, joining playoff contender Rajah Caruth in the No. 71 and experienced racer Corey LaJoie in the No. 77. This event showcases the organization’s commitment to fielding competitive entries at a track new to the truck series schedule.
Zilisch’s reputation on road courses adds to the anticipation. His performance in the Xfinity Series this season includes five wins, seven top-five results, and five poles across seven road course races. In his Spire Motorsports debut at COTA earlier in the year, Zilisch set a new qualifying benchmark and recovered from early issues to finish fourth.
Zilisch’s Background Fuels His Road Course Success
The teenager’s experience racing on road circuits dates back to his early days, which he believes gives him a natural advantage.
“It’s my background and just coming up racing in Go Karts,”
Connor Zilisch, Xfinity Series standout.
This edge has shown in his limited Truck Series outings, as he recently finished eighth at Watkins Glen, another demanding road course. Zilisch is looking forward to redemption with Spire Motorsports, having narrowly missed out on a win at COTA last year.
“I had a lot of fun racing with the No. 7 team last year and I wanted to do more races than I have so far this year, which is zero, but I am excited to at least get to go to the ROVAL with them and maybe try and redeem ourselves for losing the race at COTA last year.”

Betting Odds Place Zilisch Ahead
The odds for the EcoSave 250, published by BetOnline Sportsbook, point to Zilisch as the frontrunner at -130. The odds confirm the high expectations for his debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
This weekend’s event not only marks a milestone for Spire Motorsports as they compete on an unfamiliar track, but also sets the stage for Zilisch’s continued growth among NASCAR’s top road course competitors. Fans will be watching to see if his background and recent road racing achievements can carry him to victory, as the NASCAR community focuses its attention on Charlotte.
