Zane Smith inks multi-year Front Row Motorsports deal

Zane Smith has agreed to a multi-year contract extension to drive for Front Row Motorsports (FRM), continuing his partnership behind the wheel of the No. 38 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. This Front Row Motorsports deal affirms Smith’s long-term involvement in the NASCAR Cup Series and reflects both the team and driver’s enthusiasm for building future success together.

Smith’s NASCAR Career and Recent Performance

At 26, Smith, a native of Huntington Beach, California, is completing his second full-time NASCAR Cup Series season. His career highlights to date include three top-five finishes, ten top-10s, and a career pole position. In 2024, Smith drove the No. 71 car for Spire Motorsports during his first season as a full-time Cup driver before switching back to Front Row Motorsports this year, where he now works closely under the leadership of Crew Chief Ryan Bergenty.

“We’ve had an up-and-down year, but heading into the offseason, I feel like we’ve put our program in a great position to hit the ground running in 2026,”

said Smith.

“Front Row has always felt like home — the people, both on the road and at the shop, truly make this a special place and I’m excited for what next season holds.”

Standout Seasons and Key Achievements at FRM

Smith originally joined Front Row Motorsports in 2022 to race the No. 38 Ford F-150 in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. That year, he enjoyed a standout season by securing four wins, finishing in the top five fourteen times, leading 492 laps, clinching the regular season championship, and capping the year with victory at the Phoenix Raceway finale to become the series champion.

The following season, Smith returned to the No. 38 truck for FRM, where he successfully defended his wins at Daytona and Circuit of the Americas, ultimately placing seventh in the series’ Driver Championship standings. His experience and success in the truck series have translated into valuable momentum in his Cup Series pursuits.

Highlights from Cup Series Appearances

Smith’s 2023 season included his second ever Cup Series start—his first with FRM—when he qualified as an open entry for the Daytona 500 and achieved an impressive 13th-place finish. Later in the season, he captured his first top-10 Cup Series finish with FRM, earning tenth in the prestigious Coca-Cola 600, further cementing his reputation as a promising and resilient driver.

Looking Ahead for Smith and Front Row Motorsports

With this new multi-year agreement, Smith and Front Row Motorsports are positioned to build on their established track record. The collaboration between Smith, crew chief Ryan Bergenty, and the broader FRM team is expected to drive continued progress and competitiveness in the Cup Series, making them a team to watch in forthcoming seasons. The commitment reflects the strong connection between Smith and the organization, with both parties expressing optimism for future accomplishments in NASCAR’s premier events.
