RFK Racing Unveils Greg Biffle Tribute Exhibit After Tragedy

RFK Racing has opened a new exhibit in their Concord, North Carolina, museum in honor of Greg Biffle, the beloved former NASCAR Cup Series driver who lost his life in a plane crash last December. The RFK Racing Greg Biffle tribute highlights the team’s memorable achievements with Biffle, inviting fans to celebrate his remarkable legacy at the site.

Honoring a Racing Legend at the RFK Museum

The team dedicated a special section of their museum to showcase pivotal moments and victories from Biffle’s storied tenure. Announced via social media on Monday, the display showcases some of the most iconic achievements shared by RFK Racing and Biffle, who piloted the famous No. 16 Ford.

“We’ve added a heartfelt new display to the RFK Racing museum. In honor of Greg, we’re highlighting some of his remarkable achievements with our team — including the iconic No. 16 that secured Ford’s 1,000th victory in NASCAR — and a special tribute to the legendary Biff. All are welcome to stop by our museum and celebrate the legacy of Greg Biffle,”

the team stated.

This tribute features artifacts highlighting RFK Racing and Biffle’s shared successes, such as the historic partnership that brought Ford its 1,000th NASCAR victory and solidified Biffle’s place in motorsports history.

Personal Artifacts from Biffle’s Greatest Triumphs

The centerpiece of the new exhibit is the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion, the car Biffle drove to victory at Michigan in June 2013. That race was especially significant: it marked Ford’s 1,000th win in NASCAR and represented Biffle’s 19th and final Cup win. The car sits next to a commemorative marker featuring a team photograph in Victory Lane, bearing the phrase “1,000 NASCAR wins Ford Racing.”

Alongside the famed car, visitors can find mementos from other key wins. One is a champagne bottle saved from Biffle’s victory in the May 2006 NASCAR Cup Series event at Darlington Raceway. That race saw Biffle start ninth and methodically advance, exchanging the lead with standout drivers like Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Jimmie Johnson, before narrowly defeating Jeff Gordon with a lead of 0.209 seconds. He led 170 of the 367 laps that night, capturing his 10th career win in dramatic fashion.

The display also spotlights the trophy from Biffle’s win at the April 2012 Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. With only two cautions slowing just 10 of 334 laps, and an uninterrupted final run of 234 laps, the grueling contest became one of the fastest in NASCAR, averaging 160.577 mph. Biffle overtook Jimmie Johnson with 31 laps remaining, bringing home his 17th career victory.

Symbols of Remembrance and Public Mourning

Heart-shaped roses have been placed within the museum, a moving gesture in honor of Biffle, who was affectionately known as “The Biff.” The RFK Racing Greg Biffle tribute offers a destination for fans and community members to pay respects, remember his racing accomplishments, and reflect on his life.

The racing world suffered a great loss on December 18, when Greg Biffle, age 55, died in a tragic plane crash that also claimed the lives of his wife, son, daughter, and three friends. His influence extended beyond the race track, resonating with colleagues and motorsports enthusiasts alike, including fellow drivers like Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, and Jimmie Johnson.

RFK Racing’s new exhibit stands as both a celebration and a memorial, ensuring visitors and future racing fans remember the achievements and enduring spirit of Greg Biffle and his legacy with Ford and NASCAR.
