RFK Racing has introduced a heartfelt new exhibit at its Concord, North Carolina museum to celebrate the remarkable legacy of NASCAR driver Greg Biffle after a devastating plane crash claimed his life and the lives of his family members and friends on December 18. The RFK Racing Greg Biffle tribute comes shortly after the tragic event in Statesville, where Biffle, his wife Cristina, their children Emma and Ryder, Chad Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton perished.
The centerpiece of the display features the No. 16 Ford that Biffle famously drove to victory at Michigan International Speedway in 2013, marking his nineteenth and final NASCAR Cup Series win and Ford’s historic 1,000th NASCAR victory. Fans visiting the team museum can view not only the car but also the winner’s trophy, a commemorative coin minted for the achievement, and a race-winning diecast model. Personal artifacts—such as Biffle’s National Guard firesuit, the champagne bottle from his 2006 Southern 500 triumph, and his 2012 Texas Motor Speedway trophy—add unique context to his celebrated racing career.

The Plane Crash and Its Aftermath
The crash happened at around 10:15 a.m. Eastern Time as a Cessna C550 attempted to land at Statesville Regional Airport, about an hour from Charlotte. Poor weather, including low visibility due to rain, plagued the approach. Eyewitnesses described the plane’s low altitude as it tried to regain control before a fiery crash left only wreckage. The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
Biffle’s Career and Achievements
Greg Biffle, 55, emerged as a prominent figure in NASCAR during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He captured the Truck Series championship in 2000 and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series title in 2002. From 2003 to 2016, Biffle drove full-time in the Cup Series, piloting the No. 16 Ford for Roush Fenway Racing—now known as RFK Racing. Over his Cup career, he racked up 19 victories, coming close to the season championship in 2005 by finishing just behind Tony Stewart in the Chase. Each memento in the new tribute reflects significant moments and victories throughout his storied tenure with RFK Racing and Ford.
