Cole Custer will take on double duty at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend, driving for SS GreenLight Racing in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series as he launches the first event of his planned five-race schedule for 2026. This highly anticipated Cole Custer Las Vegas comeback marks another chapter in his ongoing pursuit of a Cup Series breakthrough and continued dominance in NASCAR’s secondary divisions.
Custer Returns to SS GreenLight Racing For Selected O’Reilly Series Appearances
SS GreenLight Racing welcomes Cole Custer back to its roster after his impactful 2022 stint, when he secured the team’s first-ever win at California‘s Auto Club Speedway. Now age 28, Custer will pilot the No. 0 Chevrolet for the team at Las Vegas, with future appearances shared alongside Garrett Smithley and Alex Labbe. While only the Las Vegas event has been confirmed thus far, details for the remaining four tracks are expected at a later date.

Custer, a current Haas Factory team driver, boasts an impressive O’Reilly Auto Parts Series record, including a championship title in 2023, a runner-up finish in 2024, 15 race victories, 21 poles, and more than 100 top-10 results. In addition to his time with SS GreenLight Racing, he’s spent substantial time with Stewart-Haas Racing over previous seasons.
Chasing His First Las Vegas Victory in the Cup Series
This weekend at Las Vegas, Custer will compete in both the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Cup Series, driving the No. 0 Chevrolet and No. 41 Chevrolet, respectively. His Cup Series campaign with Stewart-Haas Racing and new sponsor Standard Nuclear began with a 24th-place finish at the Daytona 500, but subsequent races at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas, and Phoenix Raceway saw only modest progress, culminating in a 35th-place result at Phoenix following a DNF.
Despite challenges at NASCAR’s top level, Custer’s results in Las Vegas in the O’Reilly Series remain strong. The California native collected multiple finishes in the top three at the intermediate-speedway, including runner-up positions in the spring events held in both 2023 and 2024. In the 2024 contest, he claimed the pole and led much of the day before coming home second. However, these strong performances have not yet translated to a NASCAR Cup Series win in Las Vegas.
Upcoming Races and What to Expect Next
The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series hosts a 200-lap feature event, The LiUNA! Race, starting Saturday at 5:30 pm ET on the 1.5-mile track, with Custer aiming to add to his O’Reilly win tally. The following day, the NASCAR Cup Series main event begins at 4:00 pm ET, giving the Haas factory team driver another chance to climb the standings after a challenging start to his season.
This Las Vegas weekend offers Cole Custer and SS GreenLight Racing the opportunity to extend their legacies amid fierce competition. Fans and teams alike will be watching closely to see if Custer can achieve his long-awaited first Cup Series victory at the Nevada speedway, or if he continues to build on his remarkable O’Reilly Auto Parts Series accomplishments as the season unfolds.
