Keith McGee Bio
Keith Edward McGee (born May 7, 1981) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the Nos. 2/22 Ford F-150 for Reaume Brothers Racing. McGee has also previously competed in what is now the ARCA Menards Series West.
McGee previously served in the United States Air Force for eight years. He is notable for being the first Alaskan and the first disabled veteran to compete in a NASCAR national series race.
Early Life and Background
Keith Edward McGee was born on May 7, 1981, in Truckee, California. He grew up in Nevada County, California, and is the youngest of seven children in his family. His grandfather worked on and built racecars for drivers on the west coast of the United States, and his father raced as a driver for Factory Polaris.
McGee and his father often watched NASCAR races on television and attended local Sprint car races in person. As a child, McGee was interested in racing, but he also had the option of becoming a professional snowboarder. He chose to enter the military instead. His mother competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and won a gold medal after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis earlier in her life and being told she would not be able to walk again. His mother is also a cancer survivor, which is why McGee often runs with Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons on his cars and occasionally paints his car number pink.
Path to NASCAR
After moving from California to Alaska and serving for eight years in the United States Air Force beginning in 2001, McGee began his racing career later than most drivers. He started racing when a go-kart facility opened near his hometown of Eagle River, Alaska, when he was 35 years old. In 2017, he competed in 115 local go-karting events and racked up 78 wins. He also won every race in the Extreme Racing League, a first-year go-kart series, on his way to the championship.
In 2018, McGee moved to stock cars and competed in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at his home track, Alaska Raceway Park, finishing second in points. That same year, he also won the championship in the Pro Grand National Series. These grassroots results helped open the door to NASCAR’s development ladder.
Keith McGee Career
Early Career (2018-2019)
McGee made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West debut at the 2018 season finale at Kern County Raceway Park, driving the No. 39 for Patriot Motorsports Group. He finished last after retiring from the race due to clutch issues. His first start of 2019 came at Douglas County Speedway in Oregon in June, where he drove the No. 37 and finished eleventh. He later earned his first top-ten finish at Meridian Speedway in Idaho in only his third start in the West Series.
McGee also entered the ARCA Menards Series landscape in 2020 when he drove an Our Motorsports car at the series’ Daytona testing in January. Although he did not start any ARCA races that year, he was determined to reach the national series level.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Breakthrough (2021-2024)
McGee’s first NASCAR national series start came at Richmond Raceway in 2021, driving the No. 33 for Reaume Brothers Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Later that season, he also drove the No. 3 for Jordan Anderson Racing at Charlotte with sponsorship from Barstool Sports, and the No. 49 CMI Motorsports Ford at the Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200. At Talladega Superspeedway, McGee was one of only five trucks that finished clean, led a lap, and ran in the top-fifteen for the final twenty laps before slipping to tenth, his best finish of the year.
On November 11, 2023, Reaume Brothers Racing announced McGee would return to drive the No. 27 truck in six 2024 races at Daytona, Las Vegas, Texas, Charlotte, Richmond, and Phoenix. In October 2024, he ran the No. 02 for Young’s Motorsports in a technical partnership with RBR that produced a Ford entry. He failed to qualify for that race but ended up replacing Bryan Dauzat in the No. 28 FDNY Racing Chevrolet. Over his Truck Series career, McGee has recorded one top-ten finish and no wins, with a best series finish of 36th in 2024.
Reaume Brothers Racing Era (2025)
McGee continued his part-time role with Reaume Brothers Racing in 2025, driving the Nos. 2 and 22 Ford F-150 entries in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. His most recent start came at the Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and he ended the year 65th in the series standings. The relationship with team owner Josh Reaume has given McGee a steady landing spot to keep building his national-series experience.
Driving Style and Strengths
McGee has shown his best work on the larger, high-speed tracks where drafting and track position matter most. His clean run at Talladega in 2021, where he led laps and stayed near the front at the finish, showed his comfort in pack racing. He is also willing to adapt, having switched teams and car numbers several times to keep his season moving forward.
Notable Races and Milestones
McGee’s top-ten finish at Talladega Superspeedway in 2021 stands as a signature Truck Series result. He also became the first Alaskan and the first disabled veteran to compete in a NASCAR national series race, a milestone that highlights the unusual path he took from the U.S. Air Force to stock car racing. He is also a winner of the 2023 Danger Ranger 9000 and the 2024 2.4 Hours of LeMullets.
Keith McGee Career Wins
McGee does not have a recorded national NASCAR victory, but he has built an impressive resume in regional and grassroots racing. His win totals in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series West remain at zero, with one top-ten in trucks and two top-tens in the West Series.
