Roger Penske Applauds NASCAR Game-Changing Media Deals

Roger Penske Applauds NASCAR: In a press briefing on Thursday morning, Roger Penske expressed his enthusiasm for NASCAR’s groundbreaking media rights deals. The newly announced partnerships with NBC, Fox, Amazon, and Warner Bros. Discovery are set to bring select Cup Series races exclusively to streaming platforms, starting in 2025. Penske, the owner of Ryan Blaney’s championship team, praised the seven-year deals, estimated to generate a staggering $7.7 billion. “Believe me: If NBC and Fox, along with the other partners, didn’t see the value in this collaboration, NASCAR wouldn’t have secured $7.7 billion,” Penske stated during a press conference held at the Music City Center. “I trust the expertise behind this move, and to me, it’s a significant leap forward.”

The 86-year-old owner has clinched the last two Cup Series championships, with Team Penske’s Joey Logano securing the 2022 title, marking the first instance of Penske Racing winning consecutive Cup titles.

Reflecting on his initial encounter with Roger Penske in 2012, Blaney recalls stepping onto a Team Penske bus with his father. At that time, a 19-year-old Blaney was seeking his first full-time opportunity and had been exploring options with various Cup Series teams, including JR Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. Penske held admiration for Blaney’s father, Dave—a retired driver—and Brad Keselowski, a member of Team Penske at the time, had developed a rapport with the young Blaney. Recognizing his potential, Blaney was welcomed into the team.
