“The biggest change for me is not working on the race car. These Xfinity cars are similar to the late model stuff but have different components…. this NASCAR stuff is awesome, but I treat it more like a job,” he told NASCAR’s official website.
“They’re so big that, for me, I almost don’t know where to go. There is so much room to work with. I don’t really have it scientifically figured out why I’m struggling, but I don’t feel as confident going to the mile-and-a-half or two-mile tracks. As the season has gone on, I feel like I’ve learned a lot,” he added.
Still, Kvapil’s steady hand and work ethic have allowed him to adapt quickly, finding ways to compete against more seasoned contenders.

Teaming with JR Motorsports has proved crucial for Kvapil, especially under the direction of crew chief Andrew Overstreet, who first worked with him during a 2023 Truck Series debut for Spire Motorsports. To date, the rookie has racked up eight top-10 finishes in 19 starts, most recently finishing second at EchoPark Speedway. At Sonoma, he delivered a commanding performance by collecting 43 points, a total matched by only one other driver that weekend. Kvapil is now one of just two rookies forecasting a postseason appearance, trailing only JR Motorsports teammate Connor Zilisch in the playoff chase.
“There’s never been a time that I didn’t believe Carson wasn’t capable of doing great things. We’ve challenged Carson to be more aggressive, and everything he’s doing, he keeps getting better. He doesn’t tear up his stuff, and he’s smart,” Overstreet told NASCAR’s official website.
Both Kvapil and Overstreet acknowledge the challenges they’ve faced, recognizing that not every result has showcased their strongest pace due to various setbacks. However, resilience has defined their campaign, with the duo constantly pushing for stronger finishes.
