Layne Riggs Wins IRP Truck Race, Sweeps All Stages for Dominant Second Victory of 2025

Layne Riggs wins IRP truck race after sweeping all three stages at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday, July 25, marking his second triumph of the 2025 season and delivering a commanding statement in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Riggs’s victory, achieved with Front Row Motorsports, featured his control of 160 out of 200 laps, leaving no doubt about his dominance on the short oval.

Riggs Sets Relentless Pace from Midfield Start

Beginning the night in the eleventh position, Layne Riggs wasted little time charging to the front of the field, overtaking Corey Heim for the lead by lap 22. Displaying remarkable pace, Riggs consistently pulled away from rivals and managed his equipment carefully, keeping tire wear to a minimum as he anticipated possible late-race incidents. Reflecting on his approach, Riggs explained he was saving his tires and waiting for any late caution, running the bottom line to protect his position on the demanding IRP circuit.

Securing Stage Victories and Overcoming Challenges

Riggs’s dominance continued as he captured the first stage by more than three seconds over Ty Majeski. After the stage break, Riggs retained pole on the restart with Majeski alongside. In the early laps of the second stage, Riggs extended his advantage until the race’s first caution on lap 100, which was triggered by Josh Reaume’s impact with the wall. Fifteen laps remained in stage two when Riggs fended off his teammate Chandler Smith, while Stewart Friesen surged to second after a strategic pit stop for fresh tires.

Despite Friesen’s strong pursuit, Riggs completed a sweep of the second stage, crossing ahead of the competition. Following a round of pit stops under caution, Friesen and Grant Enfinger emerged at the front. But the leaders soon faced renewed pressure as Rhodes, Heim, and Riggs began their march forward.

Riggs Reclaims Lead and Seals the Win

A determined Riggs overcame a brief setback, falling behind Rhodes and Heim, but methodically moved back through the field by executing clean passes. With 55 laps remaining, Riggs reeled in Friesen and retook command of the race. Maintaining a gap of under one second, he eventually pulled away over the closing laps, winning handily to cap his near-flawless performance at IRP.

Celebrating his efforts and the collective achievement, Riggs expressed his gratitude, stating,

“I’m out of breath that was a pretty cool celebration. Thank you to all the guys at home, all the guys in the fab shop and body shop. We did it for you guys. This thing was really fast. Made my job easy today.”

Strong Finishes for Day, Friesen, and Heim

Corey Heim crossed the line in fourth position and clinched the regular season points championship with two races left, while Grant Enfinger rounded out the top five in fifth.

What’s Ahead for the Truck Series Contenders

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series now heads to Watkins Glen International for the penultimate regular season round on Friday, August 8, with live coverage beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. With Riggs’s emphatic win at IRP, anticipation builds as top drivers including Chandler Smith, Ty Majeski, and others prepare for pivotal showdowns that will determine the playoff field and set the tone for the championship stretch.
