JR Motorsports Lineup Shuffle: Notable Changes for 2024 Xfinity Series Season

JR Motorsports Lineup Shuffle: JR Motorsports has set their lineup for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. As the week goes on, they are focused on one change.

The team has already said they will keep Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, and Brandon Jones, all of whom are expected to return for the next season. In the latest news, Josh Berry’s replacement has been officially confirmed, which means that the No. 8 Chevrolet will now be driven by someone else.

Berry’s career with JR Motorsports has been going on for a year. He chose to race full-time after working as a guru part-time in 2021 and winning two good races. His rise will take him to the top of the Cup Series, where he will drive the No. 4 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing and take over for Kevin Harvick.

On the other hand, Noah Smith is currently racing in the Xfinity Series for Joe Gibbs Racing. This is his first entire season with the team. This moving story is more interesting because he is leaving Toyota, his loyal partner, for several seasons. Smith is getting ready to wear the Chevrolet logo after winning the 2021 and 2022 ARCA Menards Series East championships with Joe Gibbs Racing and Kyle Busch Motorsports, respectively.

Not only did he leave Toyota, but his support changed significantly before that. Pilot Flying J, which has consistently backed Smith’s No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, will back the No. 8 JR Motorsports Chevrolet in the coming season.

JR Motorsports Lineup Shuffle

Smith has already won one race at the renowned Phoenix Raceway in his first season in the Xfinity Series. He also has four other top-five finishes. At this point in the playoffs, since we are halfway through the first round and have one more step to get over, Smith is over the cut line for the coveted game of 8.

As Joe Gibbs Racing prepares for their two full-time Xfinity Series stars to leave again for the winter, they come to a sad reality. A year earlier, Ty Gibbs had been put in charge of the Cup Series, and Jones had moved on to JR Motorsports, so this was the first time something like this had happened. Now that John Hunter Nemechek is part of the elite Legacy Motor Club Cup Series, history is being replayed. In NASCAR, the driver’s circle keeps going around and around.
