Jack Wood Dual Commitment: ARCA West and NASCAR Truck Series 2024

Jack Wood Dual Commitment: Jack Wood has made a significant move to join McAnally-Hilgemann Racing and Bill McAnally Racing for the upcoming 2024 season, as confirmed by the team on December 6.

In this transition, Wood is set to compete throughout the entire ARCA Menards Series West season with BMR for 2024, steering the No. 16 vehicle. Alongside this commitment, he will also engage in a part-time stint in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with MHR, driving the No. 91 truck, under the guidance of crew chief Kevin Bellicourt for both endeavors.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Wood stated in a team release, “The opportunity to contend for a championship with BMR and NAPA Auto Care is truly exciting. It’s a chance to make my mark again in the West Series, aiming for a title while continuing my presence in the Truck Series. Having Kevin by my side in both series will bring consistency, and I’m eager to manage both programs in the upcoming season.”

Wood’s inclusion replaces Tanner Reif, who had a full-time run in the No. 16 in ARCA West during 2023, though Reif’s plans for the upcoming 2024 season remain undisclosed.

Bill McAnally, the team owner, welcomed Wood, emphasizing, “Having Jack join our Truck Series program is a significant addition, and I’m thrilled to see him vie for a championship in the NAPA Auto Care Chevrolet out West. We’re aiming to reclaim victory in the West Series, and Jack’s presence positions us strongly to pursue our 12th championship.”

McAnally further added, “He hasn’t had the chance to contend for a regional title, and this opportunity is pivotal for him in terms of gaining confidence and experience. It will also play a part in developing the No. 91 team alongside Kevin into a strong contender in the Truck Series.”

Notably, the No. 91 will make a comeback to the Truck Series after a one-year hiatus. However, details on the truck’s participation in races not involving Wood were not specified in the release.

Wood’s race schedule involves driving the truck at Daytona International Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway initially, with plans for the remainder of his 14-race schedule yet to be finalized.

Reflecting on his track record, in 2023, Wood took part in a part-time Truck schedule for Kyle Busch Motorsports, achieving two top 10 finishes. Since 2021, he has earned three top 10 finishes in 48 starts, including a full-time season with GMS Racing in 2022.

Additionally, Wood has made 19 starts since 2019 in ARCA West, garnering four top-five finishes and 11 top-10 finishes. In 2023, two of these top-five finishes were secured with a pair of fourth-place efforts; he participated in three races, two with Rev Racing and one with Pinnacle Racing Group.
