Layne Riggs Gears Up for NASCAR Truck Series Rookie Year with Front Row Motorsports

Layne Riggs Gears Up for NASCAR: Layne Riggs is set to make his mark in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, vying for the coveted Rookie of the Year honors in 2024 while piloting the 38 Ford F-150 for Front Row Motorsports.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity, Riggs shared, “I’m truly thankful for this chance to compete full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with one of the premier teams in the sport. I’ve dedicated my life to reach this point, and I’m incredibly appreciative of Bob (Jenkins) and everyone at Front Row for enabling me to take this significant step in my racing journey.”

Riggs gained experience through six Truck races across 2022 and 2023, splitting three races between different teams. His series debut at IRP in 2022 saw him secure a seventh-place finish, an accomplishment he surpassed the following year by clinching third place while racing for Spire Motorsports.

Though initially starting his Truck career with Toyota, Riggs has predominantly been associated with Chevrolet teams like Spire and Young’s Motorsports in most of his NASCAR endeavors. Additionally, he competed in three Xfinity Series events for Kaulig Racing, securing a commendable tenth-place finish at Las Vegas.

Before making his mark in the national series, Riggs claimed the 2022 NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series title.

As the son of NASCAR veteran Scott Riggs, Layne Riggs will strike a balance between racing and pursuing his Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC).

Commenting on Riggs’ commitment to both education and racing, team owner Jenkins remarked, “I truly value Layne’s dedication to his education while competing at the highest levels. It speaks volumes about his upbringing and commitment. We’ve already seen immense potential in Layne, and he fits perfectly into our program as we work towards developing him into a NASCAR winner in the national series.”

Riggs steps in to fill the shoes of Zane Smith, who clinched the 2022 Truck Series championship and is now moving up to the Cup series. He follows in the footsteps of previous drivers in the #38 for Front Row Motorsports, which included Todd Gilliland and Smith, collectively securing seven wins. Additionally, FRM boasts a #34 that saw victory at Talladega in September under the helm of Brett Moffitt in its inaugural race.
