BJ McLeod 2024 Racing Strategy: Live Fast Motorsports’ co-owner, BJ McLeod, steering the #78 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on a part-time basis, concluded the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season with a less-than-stellar performance, consistently landing behind the top 20 positions.
In a recent media appearance, McLeod indicated Live Fast Motorsports‘ intention to secure a spot in the 2024 Daytona 500, slated for February 18 at the iconic Daytona International Speedway. His performance in this year’s Daytona 500 secured a 30th-place finish.
Throughout the previous season, Live Fast Motorsports showcased competitiveness at Superspeedway events. McLeod expressed ambitions to participate in all six Superspeedway races in 2024. Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of running road course races, potentially with driver Josh Bilicki, who notably competed in all five road courses in 2023.
“We’re committed to running part-time in the Cup. We aim to be on track for the [superspeedways] due to our competitive edge there, and we’re considering putting a driver in for the road courses. Josh Bilicki showed impressive speed at the road courses this year. He performed exceptionally well, and that’s something we’re eager to develop,” shared McLeod.
Despite Live Fast Motorsports having optimistic prospects after transitioning to Chevrolet and receiving support from ECR, as well as aid from Richard Childress Racing, the team did not witness the anticipated improvement in performance. Subsequently, they sold their charter to Spire Motorsports for $40 million.
In another development, McLeod, the owner of BJ McLeod Motorsports, which fields entries in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, confirmed that Anthony Alfredo will not be returning to the team for the 2024 season.
“I want to express gratitude to Anthony for his contributions this year. He brought a fantastic group of individuals to our shop last offseason. He’s an exceptional driver, possesses remarkable speed, a good-natured individual from a great family. They have their own opportunities to explore, so BJ McLeod Motorsports is actively scouting for our driver for 2024,” mentioned McLeod during a recent media session reported by jayski.com.
Alfredo culminated the 2023 season in 20th place in the Xfinity Series championship standings, leaving the #78 entry at BJ McLeod Motorsports open for the upcoming season.
